1965 Buddy L, 6pc. Drag Racing Set in Factory Sealed Box
From the original owner comes this incredible Buddy L boxed set; Still Factory Sealed! As with several other toys I recently acquired this 6-piece competition Drag Racing Set by Buddy L has remained factory sealed in its original box for the past 45 years. Although listed individually the catalog number 0024 Drag Racing Set is not listed in the Buddy L Toys book Volume II. I've never seen another and that includes the Buddy L "morgue" sale 10 years ago. Retaining it's original J.C. Penny shipping labels on one end, the set was purchased by an elderly Indiana couple on November 11, 1965. It was intended for use by their grand-kids so they wouldn't be bored when visiting Grandma and Grandpa. Like many of their toys it was stored in the attic and forgotten.....until recently. The set is actually a die cut window display box with instructions for its assembly. This may explain its absence in the Buddy L book. Apparently the top opens in two directions forming the base and backdrop. A small schematic on the indicates that the interior was printed as well as the exterior. This may be the case, but I don't know since it's never been opened. The set includes 6 pieces. These are illustrated several times on the outside of the box. Box size: 26½" x 15½" x 7".
